Which Monitor Resolution Should I Choose: 1080p or 1440p?

I'm considering getting a new monitor for my setup that includes a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU and an RX 9060 XT GPU with 16 GB of memory. Should I go with a 1440p monitor or stick to 1080p?

Definitely go for 1440p! Your graphics card can handle it, and while the CPU might occasionally struggle, it's a good future-proof option. Upgrading from 1080p to 1440p feels like going from 60Hz to 144Hz. So, get the 1440p and down the road, you can upgrade your CPU without having to get a new monitor.

I can’t stress this enough—1440p is way better! It’s worth making the jump if you can. Plus, at higher settings, the gap between CPU and GPU performance narrows, making it more balanced. But if you're into competitive FPS games, then maybe a high-refresh 1080p monitor is the way to go.
