Which NVIDIA GPU should I pair with a Ryzen 5 9600X?

I recently upgraded my PC from an Intel i9-9900K to a Ryzen 5 9600X, but I'm still using my RTX 3060 12GB. I've seen people pair this CPU with GPUs like the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5070, so I'm considering an NVIDIA upgrade. Which GPU would make the most sense for this build, based on value and performance?

If your RTX 3060 is still meeting your needs, thereโs no urgent reason to replace it. NVIDIAโs lower-end options arenโt especially compelling for the money right now, so it may be better to wait until thereโs a more substantial upgrade available.

A used RTX 3080 Ti could also be worth considering if you find one at a good price, but check its power consumption, condition, and remaining lifespan carefully before buying.

The Ryzen 5 9600X is capable of handling a fairly powerful graphics card, so the CPU shouldnโt limit your options. The right choice mostly depends on your budget, target resolution, refresh rate, and the games or applications you use.

Between the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5070, the RTX 5070 is the more worthwhile performance upgrade from a 3060. Just make sure the price is reasonable, since the 5070 may not offer great value depending on local pricing.

If youโre open to AMD, cards such as the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, RX 9070, or RX 9070 XT generally offer stronger gaming value at similar prices. The NVIDIA choice still makes sense if you specifically need CUDA, certain ray-tracing features, or NVIDIAโs software ecosystem.
