I'm currently getting roughly 100–150 FPS in CS2, depending on the map, and I'd like to improve performance, especially for competitive 1080p gaming. My system has a Ryzen 5 2600, a Gigabyte Radeon RX Vega graphics card, 16GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4-2133 RAM, an MSI B450-A Pro motherboard, and a Thermaltake Smart RGB 600W power supply. Which component should I upgrade first, and what parts would make sense with this motherboard?

Your memory is running at only 2133MHz, which is slow for Ryzen. Moving to a 2x8GB or 2x16GB DDR4-3200 kit and enabling the memory profile in BIOS should help with CPU performance and frame-time consistency. I’d prioritize the CPU first, then replace the RAM if your current kit can’t run faster, or upgrade both together if the budget allows. A reasonable split would be about 60% toward the CPU and 40% toward the GPU.
The CPU is probably holding you back most in CS2. A Ryzen 5 5500X3D or another compatible X3D chip would be a strong upgrade for high-refresh 1080p gaming. Update the motherboard BIOS while the Ryzen 5 2600 is still installed, then check your FPS before deciding whether the GPU also needs replacing. A used RTX 3070 or similar card could be considered later if you want higher settings or even more FPS.
If you’re near a Micro Center, the Ryzen 5 5600X3D is another good AM4 option at around $180 when available. Make sure your specific motherboard BIOS supports it, and update the BIOS before removing the old CPU. Some newer BIOS versions can drop support for older processors, so doing the update first is safer.
The 5600X3D is a Micro Center-exclusive model, so availability depends on whether you have one nearby. Otherwise, look at the 5500X3D or a Ryzen 5 5600-series chip that your board supports.
