I'm trying to decide between two RAM options for gaming: one is 16GB at 3200MHz, and the other is 64GB at 2400MHz. Which configuration offers better performance for gaming?

Are both sets of RAM in dual channel? And what type are they (DDR4)? Those factors can also influence your decision.
I’d go for the 16GB option. Most games today don’t really require more than that. The speed of 3200MHz just seems more beneficial for gaming compared to the 64GB at 2400MHz, especially if you're just playing modern games.
It really depends on what games you're playing. Some modern titles can actually utilize more than 16GB, but if you're not hitting that limit, the faster speed of 3200MHz could provide better performance overall. If you're experiencing RAM shortages, then you might benefit from having more RAM, even at a slower speed.
In my experience, 16GB has been enough for gaming. Even when I have several browser tabs open, I rarely exceed 8GB. So, unless you're running very demanding applications alongside gaming, the 16GB should suffice.
Consider how you use your system. If you're regularly running out of RAM and hitting swap space on your disk, that can really hurt your performance as disk access is much slower than RAM. But if you mostly have free RAM, then the faster speed is a better choice. 32GB is often seen as a sweet spot for gaming right now.

That’s helpful, thanks! I’ll likely stick with the faster option then.
