My Ryzen 7 5700X3D failed, and the manufacturer can offer a Ryzen 9 5900X, Ryzen 9 5950X, or Ryzen 7 7800X3D instead. I have a B550 system with 32GB of DDR4 that I use for work and World of Warcraft, plus an AM5 system with a Ryzen 5 7500F and 16GB of DDR5 for other games. Iโd like to keep both PCs and avoid spending much extra. Which replacement makes the most sense?
Which replacement CPU would you choose in this situation?

Iโd take the 7800X3D. Itโs the only offered option that keeps the X3D cache, and it can go into the AM5 system you already have. The 16GB of memory doesnโt automatically rule that out, though you could upgrade later if it proves limiting.
Then sell the 7500F and the 3200G, and put the proceeds toward a reasonable AM4 processor for the B550 PC. That gives each system a usable CPU without buying a whole new platform.

If keeping the AM4 machine strong with the least rearranging matters most, choose the 5950X. It drops straight into that system and offers plenty of processing capacity, but it isnโt an X3D chip, so donโt expect it to be an equivalent replacement for the 5700X3D in a game that benefits from the extra cache.
For office work and lighter use, that extra capacity may not be especially valuable. Iโd compare this option against selling parts and buying an AM4 chip before deciding.

Before accepting, ask whether they can offer a refund, a different AM4 X3D model, or a replacement later if stock becomes available. Thereโs no guarantee theyโll agree, but it costs nothing to clarify the choices, especially since your main concern is losing the gaming benefit on the AM4 PC.

Thatโs the route Iโm leaning toward. Iโm planning to sell the 7500F and 3200G, then use the money for a 5600 or 5700 depending on prices.
