Which RTX 5080 Model Should I Buy, and Should I Purchase It Early?

I'm planning to build a new PC in December and intend to use an RTX 5080. I'm currently comparing the MSI Gaming Trio OC, an Aorus model, and the Astral, but I'm unsure whether any of them offers a meaningful advantage. Which one would you recommend?

I'm also wondering how likely graphics card prices are to rise by December. Would it make sense to buy the GPU now to avoid a possible price increase, or is it better to wait until I'm ready to assemble the rest of the system?

I’d avoid paying a large premium for a specific model unless you really care about its cooler, appearance, or acoustics. If the alternatives are all well-reviewed, buy whichever is cheapest and available when you’re ready. A PNY or Founders Edition card can also be worth considering if it’s priced competitively.

Are you planning to build the PC yourself, or are you considering buying a prebuilt system?

I’m planning to build it myself rather than buy a prebuilt.

Unless you specifically prefer a certain design, compare prices and reviews when you’re actually ready to buy. Most models perform very similarly, and the best deal can change depending on retailer promotions. I’d focus on cooling quality, noise, warranty, and whether the card fits your case rather than chasing one particular brand.

There’s no reliable way to predict what prices will look like in December. Prices have already moved around recently, and seasonal sales may or may not make a difference. Since you aren’t building until then, waiting lets you compare the GPU with the rest of the parts and avoids having a warranty period running before the system is finished.
