I'm trying to decide between the Samsung 9100 Pro and the 990 Pro, as they are both priced the same. My motherboard will be the x870E, but I want to secure the SSD before prices go up. I've heard some concerns about the 9100 Pro running hot. Which one do you think I should go for?

I'd recommend the 9100 Pro. It's newer, faster, and has better performance overall than the 990 Pro.
Consider that the 9100 Pro uses PCIe 5.0 while the 990 Pro is PCIe 4.0. If your system supports PCIe 5.0, the 9100 Pro is definitely the better choice for future-proofing.
I haven’t bought the motherboard yet, but I’m definitely going with one that supports PCIe 5.0.
But what about the heat issues that the 9100 Pro has?
