Why Am I Experiencing Severe CPU Bottleneck in All My Games?

I'm facing a major CPU bottleneck in every game I try to play. My Intel Core i7-8700 is consistently maxing out at 90-100%, while my RTX 2070 is only showing 50-60% usage. This stuttering makes gaming nearly impossible.

Here are my specs: Intel Core i7-8700, RTX 2070, and 16GB of RAM (2x8GB).

I've updated all drivers and run SFC/DISM, but nothing seems to resolve the issue. Is my CPU simply outdated for current games, or is there a setting I could adjust to help balance the workload? Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds like your CPU is struggling to keep up with modern titles. Today's games benefit from advanced CPUs and faster RAM. Your i7-8700, while capable, is getting on in years and only has 6 cores, which can be a limiting factor.

Consider enabling XMP on your RAM to optimize its performance. That said, if you're dealing with stuttering, it may be time to think about upgrading your CPU and RAM combo in the near future.

Was this issue recent, or has it been a problem for a while? The i7-8700 was a strong CPU for its time, but it's almost a decade old now. Performance has definitely improved in newer chips, especially with benefits seen in clock speeds and core count. You might want to check the temperatures of your CPU to ensure there's no overheating—reapplying thermal paste can sometimes help too. Don't forget to double-check your power profile to make sure it's set to balanced.
