Why am I not getting consistent 500 FPS in CS2 with a 4090 and 9950X3D?

I mainly play Counter-Strike 2 and recently bought a 500 Hz 1440p OLED monitor. I upgraded to an RTX 4090 but could never maintain 500 FPS consistently, so I also upgraded to a Ryzen 9 9950X3D after hearing it would help. However, performance has barely changed, and I'm still seeing roughly 30โ35% lower FPS than other systems with seemingly similar hardware. My system has a 9950X3D, 96 GB of DDR5-6400 memory, two 4 TB M.2 SSDs, and an RTX 4090. Is there a configuration issue, or is consistently holding 500 FPS in real CS2 gameplay unrealistic?

An OLED isnโt necessarily the cause of the performance problem. It gives excellent contrast and motion response, but reaching a monitorโs maximum refresh rate consistently is a separate issue from display quality. The important thing is to verify that the comparison systems are actually running 1440p with the same settings rather than a lower competitive resolution.

For maximum gaming performance, a single-chiplet X3D processor can sometimes perform as well as or better than a higher-core model because the gameโs threads stay on the chiplet with the extra cache. PBO and a modest boost override may provide a small improvement, but they wonโt guarantee a locked 500 FPS.

Consistent 500+ FPS is difficult in CS2, even with top-end hardware. Average FPS screenshots donโt tell the whole story, since busy fights, smoke effects, and map areas can cause substantial dips. A strong X3D CPU with properly tuned memory may still drop into the 400s for 1% lows during actual gameplay.

The rest of the settings and system configuration matter a lot. Resolution, anti-aliasing, texture filtering, model detail, launch options, BIOS settings, background processes, and whether the game is using the fastest CPU chiplet can all affect results. Check CPU and GPU usage while playing, enable the correct memory profile, and compare using the same map, settings, and benchmark method.
