Why Are My FPS So Low on My Gaming PC?

I built my PC a year ago and recently tweaked some settings due to issues with a game. While the game works better now, I'm worried that these changes negatively impacted my performance elsewhere. I've tried reversing the changes, but my FPS is still really low. Here are my specs:

- **Graphics Card**: RTX 4070 Super 12 GB VRAM Asus Dual Evo OC
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 79700X / 8x 3.8 GHz, 32MB L3
- **Mainboard**: Gigabyte B650E Aorus Elite AX Ice / AMD B650
- **RAM**: 64 GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000 / 4x 16GB

In games like RDR2, I'm only hitting around 30 FPS on ultra settings and between 60-80 FPS on lower settings, even though my GPU is maxed out. I've already adjusted the NVIDIA control panel settings, played with Windows settings, enabled XMP in the BIOS, and ensured my GPU has enough power. Nothing seems to help or maybe even makes it worse. I'm really struggling here — any tips, guides, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You mentioned your setup, but what's the resolution you're playing at? If you're running RDR2 at 4K on ultra settings, hitting 30 FPS might not be surprising given how demanding that game is. Try lowering it to 2560 x 1440 and see if that improves your frame rates!

Check if everything is plugged into your GPU properly. Make sure you're using high-quality cables for optimal performance. If you’ve verified that all cables are connected to your GPU instead of the motherboard, you're doing it right!

Make sure you're monitoring your GPU and CPU usage along with their temperatures while gaming. Tools like RivaTuner or MSI Afterburner can help you keep an eye on these stats. It sounds like your GPU is maxed out, but knowing your CPU's performance can give you some insight, too. Sometimes it may not even be a performance issue, but rather a configuration setting that needs tweaking! Good luck!
