Why are my games locked at 60fps until I restart my computer?

I've been dealing with a strange issue where games like Overwatch and Fortnite are stuck at 60fps whenever I start them. The weird part is that after I restart my computer, the fps goes back to normal, like 300fps. This is really inconvenient, and I'm wondering what could be causing this problem. Does anyone have any insights?

I had a similar problem a while ago. It turned out that the game was adjusting my screen's resolution and refresh rate automatically when I played in exclusive full screen. Maybe try playing around with those settings in the game to see if it helps.

You might want to try using DDU to do a clean uninstall of your GPU drivers while in safe mode. After that, reboot your computer and install the latest drivers in normal mode. This can often resolve frame rate issues like the one you're experiencing.

Have you checked what your screen's refresh rate is set to? If it's only set to 60Hz, that could be why your games are capped. In games, you should match the refresh rate to what your monitor can handle.
