I've been charging my Bluetooth DAC using my laptop, and the original USB-C cable that came with it has started to fail. At first, it worked perfectly, but now it only connects at certain angles and sometimes doesn't work at all. I've tested other cables, and they work fine with both the laptop and the DAC. Is there a reason this specific cable has deteriorated so quickly? Could it be related to the voltage from my laptop, or is there something else going on? I really can't replace this cable easily since it was custom made to fit the DAC. I'd appreciate any insight!

It sounds like there might be some strain on the connector of your cable; that's usually what leads to failure over time. Keep an eye on that area, as it tends to be the weakest point!
Cables can definitely wear out over time, especially if you're using them while charging. Twisting and pulling on the cable can really shorten their lifespan. I've replaced a ton of cables myself in the past couple of years due to similar issues.
What’s special about the cable that came with your DAC? Is it just a standard USB-C to USB-C? Usually, the quality of different USB-C cables shouldn't affect sound quality, but some are definitely more durable than others.

It's just super short, only 10cm long, which is what makes it hard to replace with something else.
