Why are my YouTube videos lagging and stuttering on Linux?

I've been having trouble with YouTube videos lagging and stuttering on any browser since I switched from Windows 10 to EndeavourOS. Even when I lower the video quality, they still don't play smoothly. My system specs are pretty modest: an i5 650 processor and 4GB of RAM. I've checked out various forums and asked ChatGPT for help, but I haven't found a solution. If anyone has figured this out, I'd appreciate your advice!

If you're having issues with video performance, consider switching to a lighter Linux distro like MX Linux or Fedora with LXDE or even Linux Mint with XFCE. Given that you have only 4GB of RAM, a resource-efficient environment could make a significant difference!

It sounds like your hardware might be holding you back a bit. The i5 650 is quite dated, so running a lighter desktop environment could help. Also, installing FFmpeg might improve video playback quality. Just to double-check, what GPU are you using?

Have you tried using FreeTube? It's still in beta, but it works well for many users. Also, regular updates keep improving it. Switching to a lighter desktop environment like LXDE or MATE could also enhance overall performance!
