Why can’t I change my folder to allow writing in Windows 11?

I'm having trouble with a folder in Windows 11 where I can't change the settings to allow writing. Whenever I go to the properties and uncheck the read-only box, it just resets back to the little minus icon. I've already tried restarting my PC after making those changes. Any ideas on how to fix this?

First, you should check if you have administrator privileges on your computer. If you don’t, that might be why you can’t change the folder settings. To check, right-click on the Start menu, open "Settings," and go to "Accounts" to see your user status.

Take a look at the security settings. Right-click the folder, go to properties, and then the security tab. Make sure your account has full control permissions. If your account is listed but doesn't have the right permissions, you might need to change that.
