Why did the Ryzen 5 5500 price jump so much?

I was looking at the Ryzen 5 5500 and noticed the listing is much more expensive now than it was recently. I paid about $75 last week, so why has the price gone up? Is this just a third-party seller charging more, or are there still better deals available elsewhere?

You can still find the 5500 for around $70 at some stores, and open-box units may be closer to $55. Iโd check several retailers before paying the inflated listing price.

At that price, consider a Ryzen 5 5600 instead. Itโs often available for under $100 and is a significant upgrade over the 5500 because it has 32 MB of L3 cache, making it a much better choice for gaming.

That listing is from a third-party seller, so they can set whatever price they want. The usual price when itโs sold and shipped directly by a major retailer is still around $75, especially with a promo code.

The 5600 is also close to the 5600X in performance while costing less, so itโs probably the better buy if you can stretch the budget a little. The 5500 only makes sense when itโs heavily discounted.
