I'm using Windows 11 with a Gigabyte G27Q, mainly for gaming. In areas that are only slightly dim, the screen becomes almost completely black, making it difficult to distinguish anything. Minecraft is a good example: underwater areas and the air pocket created by a door are nearly impossible to see, and even outside the air pocket the blocks are barely visible. I've already set the monitor brightness to maximum and tried different gamma presets, but my settings only offer six presets rather than a continuous slider. I'm having this problem in multiple games, not just Minecraft. What monitor, Windows, or in-game settings should I check?

First check whether you’re changing the monitor’s settings, the game’s brightness, or both. Minecraft is naturally quite dark, but raising its in-game brightness to 100% should make a major difference. Since you’re seeing this in several games, compare the monitor’s picture settings with the games’ own brightness or gamma controls rather than relying only on the Windows slider.
