I'm creating artwork to post on DeviantArt and need my images to have a transparent background. I'm using Adobe Illustrator to design, and I save the final image as a .png file since I've read that .jpg files don't support transparency in Windows. However, when I save the image, it shows a black background in the thumbnail on my Desktop. When I open it, the black background flashes before disappearing, but when I upload it to DeviantArt, it still appears with a black background. I confirmed the background is transparent in Illustrator. What's going on? I'm happy to provide video evidence if needed, as this issue is quite frustrating!

Just a few things to consider: 1) .jpeg doesn't support transparency, but it sounds like you're already aware. 2) PNG files can behave differently; make sure you're saving it with full color and with transparency enabled. And 3) Check that your Illustrator file itself is actually set up with a transparent background and that you're not just placing a raster image. It's crucial to double-check these settings!
I haven't encountered this issue in Photoshop, but it might be a quirk on your PC. Have you checked how the image looks in other programs like MS Paint? Seems like it could be a layering problem. You might want to try saving it in different formats or even using another program to see if you get the same results. If you want, post the image here and I can take a look at it in Photoshop too!
Here's the image I'm having trouble with: [link to image]. It should have a red and black look, but the black background makes it hard to see the outline.

I've looked into all that, and the problem still persists. It's really puzzling!
