Why do some games have a 5–7 second keyboard input delay on Windows 11?

When I play games such as World of Warships, World of Tanks, and Arma 3, there can be a 5–7 second delay between pressing a key and seeing the action happen on screen. Counter-Strike 2 responds normally, however. I have tested different USB ports, and my older keyboard behaves the same way even though it works properly. My current keyboard is wired and only about three months old, and my internet connection is stable. Could Windows 11 be causing this, and should I reinstall it?

This probably is not a general Windows or keyboard problem, since your inputs work normally in Counter-Strike 2 and presumably in apps like Notepad. That points more toward the affected games or software that intercepts keyboard input, such as keyboard utilities, macros, overlays, or AutoHotkey. Try closing those programs and testing the games with their overlays and peripheral software disabled. If the delay also happens in offline single-player gameplay, it is not an internet issue. Network latency can vary by game, but a consistent five-second delay would usually cause disconnects rather than letting you keep playing normally.
