Why Does Docker Keep Uninstalling Itself on Windows?

Hey everyone! I'm really struggling here — for the past two weeks, my Docker Desktop app keeps uninstalling itself on my Windows 11 machine at work. I have some containers running, and everything works perfectly until suddenly, the app just disappears. No desktop icon or CLI commands available. Thankfully, when I reinstall, all my containers are still there, but this isn't a sustainable situation for me. I've checked with IT about whether they might be uninstalling it, but they assured me it's all clear. Has anyone experienced something like this or have any ideas on what might be causing it?

This situation often happens due to policies related to virtual machines or unapproved software in corporate environments. Since Docker uses WSL and VMs, it's possible some IT rules are interfering. It might be worth bringing this up again with IT to see if they can investigate further about what's being flagged.

I've faced a similar issue at my previous job. A couple of our devs had the same problem, and it turned out to be a corporate policy with software that wasn't approved. One person switched to Podman, and they've had a much smoother experience. That might be worth considering if these issues keep happening.

It sounds like something on your system is removing Docker, possibly an antivirus or some other security software. I've had a similar issue with my terminal disappearing unexpectedly. I'd recommend checking with IT again, specifically about any software that might be managing your system or blocking certain applications from running.
