On my Moto G (2026), Gemini repeatedly launches by itself about every five seconds for several minutes. It may stop for roughly a minute, then start happening again. I've tried everything I can think of short of deleting the app, and searches haven't turned up anything similar. How can I prevent it from opening automatically?

Check whether a gesture shortcut is triggering it. Open Settings > System > Gestures > Quick Tap and make sure the back-tap action isn’t assigned to Gemini. Also review any power-button shortcut settings, since holding or double-pressing the button may be configured to launch the assistant.
If the shortcut settings don’t fix it, try clearing Gemini’s cache and disabling it temporarily from its app settings. Reinstalling may help in some cases, but it won’t be possible if the app is built into the phone or only allows updates to be removed.
I tried uninstalling it, but the phone won’t let me remove the app.
I already disabled the power-button shortcut, but I’ll check the gesture settings next.
