Why does installing Okular trigger a VirtualBox DKMS error on Linux Mint?

I'm trying to install Okular on Linux Mint XFCE, but my apt command ends with an error while building a kernel module. The output says that the VirtualBox 7.0.16 DKMS module failed to build for kernel 7.0.0-30-generic, which then prevents several kernel packages from being configured. Is this actually related to Okular, and what's the best way to fix the package installation?

You can also install Okular through Flatpak with `flatpak install flathub org.kde.okular`. However, that wonโt fix the underlying DKMS problem; VirtualBox is still the component that failed during the kernel update.

You probably donโt need to build Okular manually. Install the package supplied by your distribution with `sudo apt install okular`. The package manager error may still need to be repaired first because the failed VirtualBox module is blocking kernel configuration.

The failure isnโt coming from Okular itself. A kernel update is trying to rebuild the VirtualBox DKMS modules, and that rebuild is failing. If you donโt need VirtualBox, remove it and then repair the interrupted package configuration. If you do need it, install a current version from Oracleโs repository, since older VirtualBox builds can break with newer kernels.

MellowPine42: That makes sense. I may try QEMU/KVM with virt-manager instead if it avoids these kernel-module issues.
