Why Does My 512GB SSD Show 0% Health After Only 66TB Written?

My 512GB SSD has recorded about 66TB of writes, but both CrystalDiskInfo and Hard Disk Sentinel now report its health at 0%. I was under the impression that a drive this size should typically handle around 150–200TBW. Is this expected, or could the health reading be based on a lower endurance rating for this specific model?

A 0% health reading may also indicate that the drive has reached its spare-block or wear threshold, even if it still appears to work. Make sure your important data is backed up and monitor the drive for errors, degraded performance, or disconnects.

The TBW rating depends heavily on the brand and model. Some budget or counterfeit 512GB drives may be rated near 100TBW, while better models can be rated for several hundred TBW. Look up the manufacturer’s datasheet to find the actual endurance rating for your drive.

Cooling and controller reliability matter too. The NAND chips might theoretically have life left, but an overheating or failing controller can still make the entire SSD unusable. That isn’t typical, but it can happen. SSD endurance ratings are estimates, and failures can result from the flash memory, controller, firmware, or other hardware—not just the total amount written. Check the exact model and its official specifications before comparing it with general 512GB drive estimates.
