After factory-resetting my ASUS ROG Strix G16, the display becomes noticeably darker whenever I open certain apps. The brightness returns to normal after a few seconds or as soon as I return to the desktop or home screen. This only happens inside applications and is getting frustrating. I've already checked Windows display settings, adaptive brightness and content-based brightness options, GPU control-panel settings, Armoury Crate, MyASUS, and power-plan settings, but I haven't found anything that fixes it. What else could be causing this?

ASUS laptops can have additional display controls in Armoury Crate or MyASUS, including eye-care and adaptive-brightness features that are separate from Windows. It’s also worth checking the NVIDIA or AMD control panel for HDR, per-application color, or power-saving display settings. If none of those options are present or changing them has no effect, reinstalling the graphics and ASUS system-control drivers after the reset may be the next step.
Start by checking Windows’ display settings for content-adaptive or adaptive brightness. A factory reset can turn those features back on, and they can dim the screen depending on what is shown in an app. Also check both plugged-in and battery power settings, since the option may be configured differently for each mode.

I’ve already checked those settings. My system doesn’t show dynamic or adaptive brightness controls, the NVIDIA panel doesn’t have an HDR-related option, and the ASUS apps don’t expose an eye-care or adaptive-brightness setting. I also configured the power-plan options, but the problem is still happening.
