Why Does My FPS Drop So Drastically After a Short Play Time?

Hey folks, I'm having a really frustrating issue with a new game I downloaded, Pacific Drive. When I first launch it, everything runs super smooth at around 150 fps, but after about an hour, my frame rates plummet to a mere 35 fps. I've checked the temperatures and they're normal—I can run much heavier games without problems. What gets me even more is that my GPU usage drops from 99% to just 15% after this sudden FPS drop. My frame times also spike from 9ms to 30ms. It's almost like my 5070 has turned into a 1050 overnight! What could be causing this? My OS is Windows 11, by the way.

It sounds like you might be hitting a CPU bottleneck since your GPU usage is dropping so low. Have you checked if your CPU temperatures are also within the normal range? That could be a big factor here. Keep an eye on how both your CPU and GPU are performing during gameplay.

Yep, I checked both and they're staying under 75°C, so that shouldn't be the issue. I noticed my GPU holds at 99% for about 30 minutes, then the usage slowly drops while I’m still playing. My CPU is a 7800x3d, so I doubt it's a bottleneck.
