I'm really struggling with my internet connection. It drops every night at precisely 10:40 PM and becomes basically unusable. I live in an apartment with my parents, and although I have a Wi-Fi booster, I can't run a cable directly to my room because it's a rental. Recently, we got a new router from our internet provider which worked well for a couple of weeks until this nightly issue started. My dad is hesitant to touch the router or call the provider since the internet seems fine for them upstairs. I'm not great with tech—could someone please help me understand what's going on?

It sounds like you might be dealing with a lease time issue on your IP address. Many routers have this setting where the device gets assigned an IP address for a limited time, and if it expires, you could lose your connection, especially after a certain time. It's common for some routers to reset connections at night. You might need your dad to contact the provider to check if there's a way to extend that lease or assign a static IP to your devices, which might help fix the problem.
I might have a solution for you! It sounds like a classic scenario of a router being too busy at night when everyone is using it. If the provider is the issue, they would have to check the usage on your line. It might also help to reset the router before instead of waiting for it to act up. I hope this helps!

Thanks! I'll see if I can convince my dad to do a reset if he won’t call the provider. It’s just so frustrating that it happens every night!
