Why does my iPad shut off when I press the power button?

I'm having trouble with my iPad Pro (5th generation, 12.9-inch). My husband recently replaced the battery and the charging port, but now whenever I press the power button, the device shuts off. I've read online that this could be due to a misalignment of the battery or a problem with the battery sensing pin. Despite my husband's confidence in his repair, he thinks it just needs a software update. Has anyone else faced this issue, or can anyone suggest what might be going on?

Honestly, it sounds like the repair might not have been done correctly. iPads are notoriously tricky to fix, and if something was displaced, it could cause this kind of problem.

Yeah, I feel you. The repair shop wasn't too reassuring about handling it either, so I asked my husband to do it.

When you press the power button while the iPad is on, it should either put the device to sleep or wake it up, not turn it off completely. So it sounds like there's an issue here.

Exactly! It’s supposed to turn off the display, not shut down the whole system. Definitely something off there.

Can you clarify if the screen just powers off or if it shuts down completely and shows the Apple logo when you turn it back on? That detail might help narrow down the issue.

It shuts down completely with the Apple logo. This morning it even rebooted right after I unlocked it, but has been stable since then.
