Why does my mouse movement cause sound issues through headphones?

I'm experiencing a problem where I hear what seems like coil whine when I move my mouse, but it's only audible through my headphones connected to a Klipsch 2.1 sound system. This issue is exclusive to my gaming PC and didn't occur with my previous gaming rig or with my MacBook. Any suggestions on what might be causing this?

I think I might have an idea! It sounds like your speakers might suffer from electromagnetic interference or ground looping. These speakers are pretty old, right? I've seen similar complaints from others. You could try using noise filters on the cables to see if that helps out. Just make sure the speaker and mouse cables aren’t too close to each other—it can make a difference! Here’s an example of a filter you might find useful: [Link].

Interesting! I haven't noticed this with my other computers, though. Just the gaming PC.

Is your mouse wireless? Sometimes wireless mice can pick up interference, which might cause sounds like that. Just checking!

Nope, it's a wired mouse.
