My PC takes about a minute before POST and another minute or two to reach Windows. The system uses a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, an ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS motherboard, and 64GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 installed as four 16GB sticks. When powering on, the motherboard's orange DRAM light stays lit for roughly a minute, then the red and white LEDs briefly appear before the green boot light comes on. EXPO is enabled in the BIOS, and only the Windows NVMe drive is selected as the boot device. The system has behaved this way consistently for about two years. What could be causing the long startup time, and is there a safe way to reduce it?

Memory Context Restore can skip most training on later boots and may significantly reduce the delay. However, it is not reliable on every BIOS or memory setup. If enabling it causes crashes or boot failures, leave it disabled, update the BIOS if you have not already, and prioritize stability. Running four DDR5 modules with EXPO may simply require longer training, while the additional delay after POST should be investigated separately through Windows startup programs, drive health, and boot-device detection.
The long orange-light period is most likely DDR5 memory training rather than a hardware failure. Four DIMMs with EXPO can take considerably longer to initialize on AM5 systems than two sticks, especially at higher memory speeds. Try temporarily disabling EXPO and booting at standard JEDEC settings; if startup becomes much faster, that confirms the memory-training explanation. Since the behavior has been consistent for two years, it probably reflects the limits of this CPU, board, and four-DIMM configuration rather than a failing component.

I also experienced the same delay when I was using only two sticks. I tried enabling Memory Context Restore, but the system became unstable, crashed, and sometimes failed to boot.
