I have a Philips 65OLED810 connected to a WD My Book 8TB external hard drive formatted as NTFS and filled with movies. Whenever the drive is plugged in, the entire TV becomes extremely sluggish, and some apps close immediately. As soon as I eject or unplug the drive, performance returns to normal. Has anyone experienced this and found a reliable fix?

Try connecting the drive to another USB port, preferably the port intended for USB storage or the one that provides the most power. Also make sure the drive has its own power adapter, since a large external disk can otherwise cause USB power or stability problems.
The TV may be struggling to index or scan such a large NTFS drive. An 8TB disk with a big movie library can put a lot of load on the TV’s relatively limited processor, especially immediately after it’s connected. Leaving it connected for a while to finish indexing may help, but the TV may simply handle a smaller drive better.
If the drive used to work normally and the problem only started after a TV software update or other change, check for firmware updates and consider resetting the TV’s app or storage settings. The issue could be caused by the TV repeatedly rescanning the disk or encountering a file it cannot parse. Testing with a smaller drive or a smaller library can help confirm whether the disk size or its contents are triggering the slowdown.

The drive is powered externally, and the TV itself seems fine as soon as the disk is removed. I’ll test another USB port and a smaller drive to narrow it down.
