Why Does My YouTube Watch History Show Videos I Didn’t Watch?

Hey everyone! I've noticed something weird with my YouTube watch history lately. There are videos showing up that I'm pretty sure I never watched. Just today, I found one that recorded 13 seconds of me watching it, even though I was focused on a completely different video. This issue has popped up on both my mobile device and laptop. I double-checked my Google account security, and no one else is logged in. Could this just be some sort of preview behavior from YouTube, or might there be something else going on?

It sounds like you might be experiencing the autoplay feature when you hover over video thumbnails. Even if you didn’t click on a video, hovering can sometimes autoplay it for a few seconds, which counts towards your watch history. That's probably what happened with that 13 seconds you mentioned.

Thanks for the insight! Just so you know, I actually had the autoplay turned off on both devices, so I don’t think that’s it. I’m still curious if this could be a syncing issue or something else entirely.
