Neofetch shows 4.1 GHz for my CPU, but another system screen says 2.1 GHz. Which number should I trust?

They can both be right. The 2.1 GHz figure is likely the base speed, while 4.1 GHz is the processorโ€™s advertised maximum turbo speed. Turbo lets a CPU run faster than its base speed when conditions allow.

Neofetch may be showing the processorโ€™s maximum boost rating, not a live reading. Actual speed changes with workload, temperature, and power settings, so a live system monitor is a better way to check what it is doing right now.
