Why doesn’t Alt+Tab switch away from fullscreen apps in KDE Wayland?

I'm using CachyOS with KDE Plasma and the KWin Wayland session. When I'm in a fullscreen application, pressing Alt+Tab doesn't switch to another window—the fullscreen app stays focused. Is there a way to make window switching work normally?

This may happen when the fullscreen game or application is running through XWayland. For Steam games, try adding `PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1` to the game’s launch options. Gamescope is another possible workaround, although it takes a bit more setup. You can also create a KDE shortcut for minimizing all windows, then use Alt+Tab as a workaround.

How do I add that environment variable to games? I think I can figure it out for Steam, but I’m not sure how to do it for games launched outside Steam. I’ll also look into Gamescope and the KDE shortcut—thanks!
