Why has my 1TB NVMe SSD health dropped to 75% so quickly?

I built this PC about a month and a half ago and I'm still learning PC hardware. My Patriot P400 Lite 1TB NVMe SSD is already showing 75% health in CrystalDiskInfo, and I'm trying to figure out whether this is normal wear, a firmware issue, unusually heavy usage, or a failing drive before I replace it. I mainly use the computer for gaming and video editing. The system has a Ryzen 7 5700, an RTX 5060 8GB, and 32GB of DDR4-3200 memory. CrystalDiskInfo reports firmware KM0E0A8B, a temperature of 45°C, PCIe 3.0 x4 transfer mode on a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, 8,741GB total host reads, and 5,334GB total host writes. What additional information should I check, and should I contact the manufacturer for a warranty replacement?

Writing about 5.3TB to a 1TB drive in six weeks is fairly heavy usage, especially with video editing, game installations, updates, and temporary files. However, that number alone doesn’t prove the SSD is bad. The P400 Lite is rated for roughly 560TBW, so 5.3TB should represent only a small portion of its rated endurance. Check what SMART attribute is being used to calculate 75% and monitor whether it keeps dropping.

The drive’s endurance rating is 560TBW, so the reported writes are nowhere near the rated total. That makes a SMART reading, firmware issue, or defective drive more likely than ordinary wear from those writes alone.

The 75% figure is only a summary of the drive’s SMART data. It doesn’t explain which specific attribute caused the health percentage to drop. Post or inspect the complete SMART/NVMe details, especially percentage used, media errors, critical warnings, and unsafe shutdown counts. Those values will give a much clearer picture than the headline health number.

The drive could simply be defective, since even new drives can fail prematurely. Back up anything important immediately, avoid relying on it as your only copy, and check Patriot’s warranty process. If the full SMART data shows errors or the health continues falling rapidly, request a replacement rather than waiting for a complete failure.
