A few days ago, I downloaded the roughly 40 GB game DMC 5, and it finished installing in about an hour and a half, possibly less. Now I'm trying to download the 16 GB game Watch Dogs, but the estimated time is around six hours and the download speed is extremely low. I'm using a fairly new Lenovo LOQ laptop. My Wi-Fi has always been somewhat slow, but it was performing at about the same speed when I downloaded DMC 5, so I'm not sure that explains the sudden change. I've already restarted the router without much improvement. Could this be caused by my internet provider, the game server, or something on my laptop, and what should I check to fix it?

This is most likely a network-related issue rather than a problem with the laptop. Download speeds can vary because of congestion, the game store’s servers, background updates, or your internet provider’s data cap or throttling. Check the actual speed in the download client, compare it with a speed test, and see whether other devices or downloads are also slow.
Your provider may have a monthly data limit or may temporarily reduce speeds after you use a certain amount of data. It’s worth checking your account for a cap, fair-use policy, or outage. Also pause cloud syncing, system updates, streaming, and other downloads while testing.
Restarting the router rules out one simple cause, but try downloading at a different time and, if possible, connect the laptop with Ethernet or move closer to the router. If only this particular game downloads slowly while other services are normal, the game platform’s server or download region may be the bottleneck.
