Why is Google Maps not working on Microsoft Edge after the latest update?

I'm running into a strange issue since the recent Microsoft Edge update (version 144). Google Maps won't function properly; none of the page elements load, the top left menu does nothing, and address searches just hang. This happens on all devices, regardless of hardware. The only way to get it to work is by turning off graphics acceleration, which I really want to avoid. I haven't changed any of the Edge policies, and the only notable change is this latest update. I've also experimented with various configurations related to ANGLE and the GPU blocklist, but nothing has changed. There are no errors showing up in the dev tools console. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue or if there are any solutions until the next version (145) is released. As a side note, I tested the Edge 145 dev build and everything works fine there, so it seems like the recent update might have introduced a bug.

Have you checked the documentation linked with the update? There were some changes made to WebGL. Microsoft Edge now uses a new WARP rasterizer for WebGL on systems without a dedicated GPU. Previously, systems relied on SwiftShader, which is no longer supported. If you want, you can enable a temporary policy to keep using SwiftShader, but it compromises security. That said, I don't think this is your main issue since you've tested different configurations and it seems to affect various systems.

I’m having the same problem with Edge Beta version 144.0.3719.82. Thankfully, our office mainly uses Chrome, so it's not a huge deal, but this is definitely frustrating. You should try the Edge 145 dev build; it works fine there!

I did try the 145 dev build, and it worked perfectly! This is definitely a bug in version 144.
