Why is my Asus TUF GAMING B850-Plus WiFi download speed only 60 MB/s?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my Asus TUF GAMING B850-Plus WiFi motherboard. The onboard WiFi is capped at a download speed of 60 MB/s, which is significantly slower than the 200 MB/s I was getting with my old PCIe network card. I chose this motherboard specifically for its WiFi feature, but after upgrading to Windows 11 just to get the WiFi functionality to work (there are no Windows 10 drivers, by the way), I can't help but feel disappointed. I also have an ASUS router that has performed flawlessly, so you'd think they would work well together. Is there anything I can do in Windows 11 to try and boost my download speed?

Check your WiFi settings in Windows 11. Go to "Network and Internet," then "Wifi," and look for "Hardware properties." It shows your link speed and protocolโ€”sometimes incorrect settings can limit speed. You mentioned having Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), so you should be getting much faster speeds under ideal conditions.

MysteriousGamer123: Thanks for the tip! I did check and my link speed is 1201 Mbps, which seems good, but it just doesn't translate to actual download speeds.

First off, make sure you've installed the Wi-Fi antennas that came with your motherboard. Sometimes they don't get attached properly which can lead to issues with speed. You mentioned they keep falling, so that might be worth checking again!

UserDebug1: Yeah, I did install them, but it's a bit annoying with how they keep falling down.

Also, are you sure itโ€™s actually stuck at 60 MB/s? You might be hitting a maximum on the specific downloads youโ€™re testing with, not the card itself. Sometimes network traffic can affect free download speed too!

I've had a similar issue in the past. Sometimes the antennas included with motherboards aren't the best quality. Consider swapping them out for a different pair or even placing them higher up. I did that and it made a noticeable difference!

Finally, make sure your drivers are updated; it can help sometimes with speed issues. The current driver version you're using seems fine, but if thereโ€™s a newer one available, itโ€™s worth a shot! A small update might help your situation.
