I've been having a frustrating issue ever since I reinstalled my GPU driver. My game keeps freezing randomly during play sessions, and even Spotify cuts out at times, which is really annoying. I ran LatencyMon and it's showing extremely high DPC latency from dxgkrnl.sys and ntoskrnl.exe, with spikes reaching up to 4360 µs. I also see high spikes from acpi.sys, which seems to relate to power management or CPU throttling.
Here's what I've done so far to try to fix it:
- Uninstalled the driver using DDU in safe mode and did a clean install twice.
- Attempted to roll back to an older NVIDIA driver, but the problem persists.
LatencyMon suggests disabling CPU throttling in the BIOS, but I'm not sure if that's the actual cause or just a symptom of the issue. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Any advice would be super helpful!
My specs are:
- Laptop: MSI Raider GE68HX 13VF
- CPU: Intel Core i9-13950HX (32 logical processors)
- RAM: 32GB
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop
- OS: Windows 11

Have you thought about downloading the drivers directly from the MSI support page instead of using NVIDIA’s website? Sometimes the manufacturer's drivers can be more suited to your specific hardware setup.

Yeah, I did try the MSI NVIDIA driver. It works, but it's still buggy in my games. I uninstalled the Intel driver, but now I’m having trouble reinstalling it. Not sure if that’s the main issue though.
