Why is my gaming performance so laggy on Linux Mint?

I'm running games on Linux Mint with a decent build, specifically a 9070 XTX GPU and a 9800 X3D CPU. Despite using the lowest settings at 1080p resolution, I'm experiencing extreme lag in games like Stellar Blade. I tried playing it on the native Steam app and through Bottles, but both versions are super laggy, even in the main menu. Actions like jumping and landing take up to 3 seconds to register. What could be causing this?

You might want to consider switching to a different distro, like Manjaro Cinnamon. It uses a newer kernel and drivers, which could help boost your gaming performance a lot. Plus, you’ll have access to a broader range of software. Just Google 'Manjaro switch to unstable repo' for instructions.

Have you tried updating Mesa? It can have a huge impact on performance. You can find the update through the Launchpad site. It might just solve those lag issues for you!

With specifications like yours, I'd recommend trying Kubuntu 25.10. It’s optimized well for hardware like yours and could help you get the most out of your setup.
