Why is my GPU hitting 100% usage while gaming on my ASUS laptop?

I've been gaming on my ASUS Vivobook (model M1605YA), and I'm noticing that whenever I start a game from Steam or the Microsoft Store, my GPU usage skyrockets to 100%. This happens with any game I try, and while my laptop is only about a year old, the performance has been lagging severely. Can anyone offer some advice on how to fix this?

It sounds like your laptop has an integrated GPU, which isn't really built for gaming. Hitting 100% usage is pretty common for those types of devices, especially if you're expecting decent performance from them.

Have you checked your temperatures? If it's getting too hot, your GPU might be thermal throttling, which can cause lag. If that's the case, you might need to cool it down a bit.

It’s quite hot. How can I fix thermal throttling?

It’s actually pretty normal for your GPU to max out while you’re gaming; it tries to give you the best performance it can. But if you’re experiencing lag, there might be other issues at play.
