Why is my laptop display not working but external monitor is fine?

I have an ASUS Zenbook UM3402YAR running Windows 11, and recently I opened it to find that the display is completely black, even though the laptop powers on. There were no prior issues or visible damage that could lead to this. When I connect the laptop to an external monitor, it works perfectly and is detected in Device Manager. However, I can't find the primary monitor listed anywhere. I've tried hard resetting, updating drivers, and booting into BIOS, but I'm stuck. I'm wondering if the issue lies within the internal display ribbon or if the display itself has failed. Any advice on diagnosing this would really help!

Just to clarify, if you can access the BIOS but your primary monitor still doesn't display anything, that points more towards a problem with the display panel itself rather than a simple connection issue. Have you tried reseating the LCD connector? That might help get it working again. Just make sure to disconnect the battery before doing any work inside.

It sounds like there might be a hardware issue. First, double-check the internal connections; ensure that the connector isn't loose either on the motherboard or at the LCD panel itself. If your BIOS shows up on the external monitor but not the primary one, it's likely that the internal LCD connector is either unplugged or the screen itself may have failed.
