Why is my monitor stuck on 1024x768 resolution?

I recently purchased an Onn monitor that supports 2560 x 1440 resolution, but when I plug it in and turn it on, it only displays at 1024 x 768. Is there an easy way to fix this issue?

Check if you're connecting the monitor directly to your GPU rather than using your motherboard's ports. That's a common mistake. Also, make sure you've got the latest drivers installed for both your GPU and the monitor.
