Why is my PC struggling to run games after several years?

I've had my PC for about 5-6 years, and while it used to handle bigger games just fine, recent experiences have been frustrating. I downloaded Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but it won't even get past the loading screen. I'm noticing performance drops with other games too, and my CPU sometimes gives me an overheating warning on startup. I ran Windows memory diagnostics, and that came back fine, but my Task Manager shows memory use near 90% and my CPU isn't performing well either. I have both an SSD (500GB) that's full and an HDD (1TB) that I'm currently using. Could this be part of the problem? Here are my specs for context. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the main issue might be your CPU temperatures, not the HDD you’re using. Ensure your thermal paste is still effective. If it’s been 5-6 years, it’s probably time to clean off the old paste and reapply fresh thermal compound. Trust me, it can make a big difference! And remember to maintain your fans to avoid overheating. That should help bring the performance back up.

Ah, I figured that’s what was happening! Does changing the thermal paste mean I need to take the CPU out, or is there a simpler way? I’m a bit nervous about messing anything up!
