Why is my RTX 2060 overheating?

I'm having trouble with my MSI RTX 2060 Ventus XS OC. Under heavy load, it's hitting temperatures between 82°C and 83°C. I've already reapplied thermal paste using Arctic MX-4, but the issue persists. Any ideas on what might be causing this overheating?

It could be due to incorrect mounting pressure, like either over-tightening or not tightening the screws enough. Also, don’t forget to check if the fans need cleaning; dust buildup can really mess things up!

I tightened the screws fully, and my GPU is clean. Should I loosen them a bit, or do I need to repaste again?

83°C is pretty typical for these cards, which usually run close to their temp target. So honestly, this seems expected for your model.

I get that, but I’ve seen reports of similar GPUs hitting around 77°C to 78°C, which makes me a bit worried.

That temperature seems about right for the 20 series. My card usually runs between 80-90°C at 90% load, so it looks normal to me!

Yeah, but I contacted MSI, and they said I shouldn’t exceed 85-88°C under load.
