Why is my RTX 5070 only running at PCIe x4 5.0?

I noticed that my RTX 5070 is running at PCIe x4 5.0, but I thought it should be at x16. I have two M.2 NVMe drives installed, and I'm kind of wondering if that's causing the issue. Can anyone help clarify this? I'm running Windows 11 with the RTX 5070 TI, 9800X3D, and MSI PRO X870E-P WIFI.

It's probably not the NVMe drives causing that. Make sure your GPU is in the correct PCIe slot and properly connected. You could try running a stress test with GPU-Z to see if the speed increases to x16, since it could just be in idle power saving mode.

Yeah, GPU-Z confirmed it for you. It’s crucial to check if it's properly seated in the slot.

I had a similar issue not long ago. My GPU wasn’t fully seated because a small piece of the PCIe clip broke off, leading to a poor connection. Totally worth checking to make sure it’s snug!

Looks like you haven't done anything wrong so far. Try removing your GPU and cleaning both the PCIe connector and the motherboard slot. Sometimes dust can affect the connection.
