I recently noticed that my TV started getting darker while I was playing on my Xbox. The bottom half of the screen turned dark and eventually went completely black. After turning the TV off for a while, it didn't make a difference, and now the top half looks darker too. I'm really confused about what's going on and how to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, I'd need to see the make and model to provide more help. If you can share a picture of your setup or the model, that'd be useful! It really does sound like a section of the backlight has failed, which happens with LCDs sometimes; they're lit in sections and if one section goes out, that part can appear dark.

Thanks for sharing that! It helps a lot with diagnosing the issue.

It sounds like part of your TV's backlighting might have gone out. If it's an older LCD TV, especially around 2016, it's likely that a section of the backlight is failing. The best-case scenario is that a connector inside the TV has come loose, which could be fixed. The worst-case is that you'll need to replace that backlight section. If you're not comfortable with electronics, you should get a technician to take a look. Given the age of the TV, it might be more cost-effective just to replace it instead.
