I bought an iPhone 18 Pro Max through BenefitsMe, an employer program that lets me finance the phone through payroll deductions. The phone was advertised as universal and unlocked, but I'm having trouble transferring my Visible eSIM from my old iPhone. When I entered the new IMEI in the Visible app, the transfer failed, and the iPhone's settings show that the SIM is locked. What could be causing this, and who should I contact to get it fixed?

It’s possible the phone was shipped with a carrier-flexible policy. Those devices may be unlocked at the factory but lock to the first carrier or SIM they’re activated with. If the phone is already locked to another carrier, BenefitsMe or its fulfillment provider may have sent the wrong model or stock keeping unit. Since the phone was advertised as unlocked, contact BenefitsMe customer service and ask them to verify the device’s IMEI and unlock status.

I was entering the new IMEI in the Visible app to transfer my number when the process failed. That’s when I checked the settings and noticed the SIM lock message. I’ll contact BenefitsMe in the morning—thanks for the help.
