I've got several computers at home that connect to the internet without a hitch, whether I'm gaming or just browsing. However, one specific computer consistently has a poor connection. I'm looking for advice on how to figure out what's going wrong and improve its performance.

It might help to run a WiFi signal test on your phone first to see how strong the connection is there. Also, do a speed test to compare with your other devices. That could give you some useful insight!

I actually just did that!

Is the computer an older model? When you say you have a bad connection, are you talking about gaming, streaming, or just browsing? More details about when it struggles would help us troubleshoot. What are the specs of this machine?

Here’s a snapshot of the components:

And yes, it mainly lags when I'm gaming.

You can check the network usage in the task manager to see if any applications are hogging the bandwidth, which might be the culprit.

It's tough to help without any specifics, but here are some things to consider:

- What's the make and model of your WiFi receiver and router?
- What type of computer and Windows version are you using?
- Are there things blocking the signal, like thick walls or appliances?
- You might find it useful to check the distance between the router and the problem computer.

A few years back, I had to wire my parents' house for a better connection because the WiFi just didn’t cut it. It might be worth looking into if nothing else works!

You don’t need to run wires through walls if that’s a concern! Just securing the cable along the room’s edges could be enough, especially if you're renting.
