I've got a fiber internet plan offering 150mbps download and upload speed on 5GHz, but I'm puzzled because it feels slower than my mobile data, which has much lower speeds compared to my WiFi. The speed tests show good download speeds, and downloads seem fine, but apps like Steam take forever to load on both my laptop and my Samsung S24 mobile. Sometimes sending messages and loading gifs on Instagram or WhatsApp can be really slow too. However, these apps work just fine on my mobile data. Can anyone help me diagnose this issue?

Have you thought about plugging your laptop directly into the router with an Ethernet cable? It might help rule out any WiFi-related issues. I know it’s a hassle with the router being in another room, but it could be worth it just to see if the connection improves at all.

I haven’t tried that yet since the router’s in a different room. But even if I stand right next to the WiFi, the issue persists.
