Why is my Windows 11 PC’s Wi-Fi much slower than my other devices?

My Windows 11 computer only gets around 0.5–2.5 Mbps over Wi-Fi, while my other devices on the same network reach roughly 20–50 Mbps. The PC uses an ASUS Wi-Fi antenna, but its connection remains extremely slow. What should I check to find and fix the bottleneck?

Check that the correct Wi-Fi drivers are installed. Search for your exact motherboard or Wi-Fi card model plus “Wi-Fi driver,” then download the Windows 11 driver from the manufacturer’s official support page. You can check the current driver by opening Device Manager, expanding “Network adapters,” right-clicking the wireless adapter, choosing “Properties,” and looking under the “Driver” tab.

First, connect the PC directly to the router with an Ethernet cable and run a speed test. If the wired speed is close to 20–50 Mbps, your internet connection is fine and the problem is probably limited to the PC’s Wi-Fi adapter, antenna, signal, or settings. If Ethernet is also slow, investigate the router, network cable, or Windows networking instead.

Speeds that low on only one computer often point to a driver or wireless-adapter issue. Make sure the ASUS antenna is firmly attached to the correct connectors, try repositioning it away from the back of the case and other metal objects, and install the latest driver. Also check whether the PC is connected to the faster 5 GHz or 6 GHz band rather than a crowded 2.4 GHz network.
