I recently formatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows 11, but now I'm facing a frustrating issue. Every time I restart or shut down my PC, I get an error message saying, "something happened and your pin isn't available, click to setup your pin again." For the first few times, I was able to reset my PIN by logging into my Microsoft account, but that's not a long-term solution. I even tried some tips I found online and accessed the Windows Recovery Environment, which allowed me to log in with my password. However, my PIN still becomes unavailable after every restart, no matter how many times I reset it. I've also attempted registry changes to "DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion" as suggested in a video, but that didn't help either. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this?

It sounds like this could be a Microsoft issue. I've heard some users mention that the latest updates have caused similar problems, making it hard for people to log in without already having the authenticator set up.
Have you considered just disabling the PIN option altogether? You can stick to using your password for now, which should solve the problem at least temporarily until a fix is available.
That's what I'm doing now! But I really prefer using a PIN because it's simpler—just a short number versus a full password. I've been using a PIN for years, so it feels odd switching back.

That does sound familiar. My Microsoft account is fine, so it's really just the PIN issue that's bothering me.
